To name me human is a compliment. My credentials are not my many years of teaching, but they are the effectiveness of my instruction. My skills are not confirmed by my education degrees, but they are confirmed by the practices which my students exemplify. My proficiency at curriculum design and English instruction mean nothing unless those organizations and individuals using the design and instruction are increased by it. As a mother and a teacher, my world is human engagement. More importantly, it is a lifestyle that subscribes to sharing, caring, and resolving. I am Muslim. Thus, I have parameters wherein I make choices to design my world so that whenever I engage others it is mutually advantageous to our physical, mental, and spiritual health and well being. That is why I created this blog. I am an educator because I have not just instructed English, Social Studies, and related disciplines to elementary, middle, and high school students; I have watched human beings grow and become better -- grow and change -- grow and create. In the process, I too have been educated. My favorite status is grandmother because "no questions asked" my (many) grandchildren love me. This is the gift my children share with me. This blog is a testament to the experience and wisdom I have accomplished from all of these occupations and I call that mixture an art and I, Am the Art of Mothering.
